Great Resource: Sales Team Tools Blog
By paulmccord on Nov 11, 2007 in Sales Marketing, Sales Management, Sales Training
Time is something none of us has enough of. In order to help us maximize our time, we look towards technology. Unfortunately, there is so much new technology on the market with new stuff appearing daily, it would take most of our time just to find and research the new technology that can save us time. So, most of us simply continue doing the things we do and as we stumble across a piece of technology that will really help make us or our sales teams more productive, we take a serious look at it.
It need not be that way.Â
A great blog that helps salespeople and managers find and evaluate the technology—new and existing—that might help maximize time and increase sales is Sales Team Tools (www.salesteamtools.com).
The site is owned and operated by Jan Visser, former owner of EyesOnSales. Jan has a long history in sales and sales management in the high tech industry, his last position as VP of Technology and Software Support for Océ North America.
Sales Team Tools is a unique resource since it focuses only on the technology to help salespeople, managers, and companies increase sales. Unlike other sites that seek to cover a number of areas of business and technology, Sales Team Tools is highly focused, and the analysis and evaluation is overseen by someone with years of sales and management experience—as well as an extensive background in IT.Â
Here is just a small sample—one of Sales Team Tools most recent posts:
Checking Up On Your Competition During Your Morning Coffee
If you needed an additional reason to ditch Microsoft Explorer as your web browser in favor of Firefox, it’s called Morning Coffee. It’s as simple as it is clever.
You get to office, grab a cup of java, check email, open your browser and voila - displayed are the news pages on the websites of your competitors. Perhaps those of your main prospects and customers. Or, if you must, the pages with new job listings on your favorite online job sites.
Â
You get the idea. This Firefox plugin opens your favorite sites when you start your browser at a click of the mouse, skipping sites on days where desired (business sites only on workdays, your favorite sports page on sunday) - you’ll never forget the sites you need to check at the beginning of your workday ever again.
It does make me curious - which sites would you make part of your “Morning Coffee†check?
No matter the product or service you sell, technology can help you sell more. The sample above focuses on Foxfire users, but gives a small glimpse of the technology you might never know about if you hadn’t found it at Sales Team Tools. Save yourself time and keep abreast of the technology that can save you time and increase your sales—head over to www.salesteamtools.com and subscribe to their RSS feed. It is time well spent.

Paul, thanks for the kind words. A lot of credit goes to Brandon Hull, who is part of our team of senior editors and who founded the site a few years ago.
Best,
Jan
